Dr. Cristina Păcurar - "Finding a mentor is extremely stimulating for one’s professional development"

I usually set milestones to guide me in life, and have done so with medicine, too. I have always admired people who are like an open encyclopedia. At one point, when I was preparing to go to dental school, I met a doctor who was quite well known both in Romania and abroad; I saw him regarding a personal medical problem. I really liked his calmness and his attitude towards his patients and I said to myself, "That's how I want to be as a doctor".

"In all my experiences, even my college years in Spain, I realized that by being involved, I could excel, regardless of the position I was in."

SPECIALIZING

Before deciding to go to dental school, my initial choice was architecture. I'm a meticulous person, I'm a perfectionist, and I don't leave a job until it's done. I have also always been attracted to photography, beauty, proportions, hence my inclination, I think, to specialize in dental aesthetics. Patients tell me that it is very helpful for them when I advise them on how to harmonize their smile with the shape of their face, not just on the aspects strictly related to resolving the condition. 

Working with adults really seemed like a challenge that suited me and one that I felt I could carry out successfully. 

"I would like to do another specialization close to dental aesthetics, which would complement me professionally." 

I can't see myself living outside of Romania because I've seen that I can perform here. However, I think it is extremely important for me to do my specializations outside the country, to complement the ones I did at home. Foreign lecturers and methods of approaching cases can give us new perspectives on how to approach a case, to connect with what is happening internationally and to keep up to date with the latest news and technologies in modern dentistry.

THE DENT ESTET TEAM

I chose DENT ESTET because I always wanted to work in a clinic with many colleagues, with different specialties, a clinic that is not easy to find. Working in a multidisciplinary and large team, invariably, I have taken 2-3 colleagues as my benchmarks in the profession who, perhaps although they don't know it, help me to grow and stimulate my professional development. I admire their work very much. We are a family, even though DENT ESTET has been in existence since 1999 and DENT ESTET Sibiu for 1 year and a half.

I very much appreciate the culture of sharing, of collegiality and collaboration between doctors. And I think this is also the reason why patients come with confidence, because they know they have a team they can rely on and that will help them get the results they want.

DENT ESTET suits me, we are working towards the same goals and the timing was perfect with the opening of the clinic in Sibiu. 

I've always wanted to put myself in people's shoes, to deeply understand their needs. When patients come to the dentist they are not always in the best shape, for various reasons, and I want them to find in me the trust and support they need. We all need to be listened to, to be understood and to have our wishes respected.

THE PERSON BEHIND THE DOCTOR

I've always been a natural creative and have always been drawn to anything that pleases my eye. That's why I did an interior design course, I love this niche, it relaxes me. 

I am family-oriented and I like to spend my free time with my family doing different activities. I am an extremely energetic person, I need to interact and do sports and physical activity. I discovered rock climbing and have been practicing it since college, it relaxes me and helps me disconnect.

SHORT PROFESSIONAL BIO

Graduate of the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy of Targu Mures , Dr. Cristina Pacurar has been actively involved, since her studies, in numerous projects and activities in the field of dentistry. She continues her professional training by regularly attending congresses and events. She has chosen "architecture" in Dentistry, namely dental prosthetics and esthetics.
