Biography
It all started with a dream: to offer excellent dental treatments equivalent to those provided by the most prestigious dental clinics in the USA and Europe, available to Romanian patients at home. This vision came to life in 1999 when Dr. Oana Taban founded DENT ESTET - the first group of premium dental clinics in Romania.
With a unique perspective on the quality standards in oral care that every patient should benefit from when entering a dental office, Dr. Oana Taban significantly contributed to the development of the dental medicine system in Romania. Under Dr. Oana Taban's leadership, the medical team built over the 24 years of the group's existence has fundamentally changed the perception of dental visits, especially for children and adolescents.
Success begins with a smile
Dr. Oana Taban began her professional career in 1992, immediately after graduating from the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest. She completed her specialization courses at UMFCD in 1995.
Four years later, in 1999, she opened her own dental office, laying the foundation for what would become the DENT ESTET group, the uncontested leader of the dental market in Romania with 18 clinics in 9 major cities and a medical team of 185 specialists in all branches of dental medicine.
From the beginning, Dr. Oana Taban aimed to improve the medical care provided to patients and to build a united and stable medical team by continuously developing an innovative system of motivation and strengthening professional relationships. With a visionary spirit, Dr. Taban introduced concepts such as the super-specialization of doctors and the formation of multidisciplinary teams within the same clinic, emphasizing professional development tailored to each doctor's specialization.
Vision and leadership
Concern for the patient's oral health, respect for the quality of services offered, and involvement in the development of the medical team attracted an increasing number of patients. Consequently, in 2003, Dr. Taban opened the group's second clinic on Aviatorilor Boulevard 15, which also became the headquarters of DENT ESTET.
To further develop her skills, Dr. Oana Taban pursued a master's degree in "Management of Health Systems" at the University of Bucharest and actively participated in specialization courses in dental clinic management in the USA and Europe.
Motivated by her commitment to building and developing a medical team of prestigious specialists recognized for their expertise and professionalism, Dr. Taban continues her professional development through numerous courses and congresses both domestically and internationally. She became a member of renowned international associations such as AADOM – American Association of Dental Office Managers, AAPD – American Association of Pediatric Dentistry, and AEDP – European Association of Pediatric Dentists.
Promoter of education
Dr. Oana Taban continued to believe in changing the healthcare system in Romania and, in 2008, opened the first private dental clinic exclusively for children in Southeast Europe – DENT ESTET 4 KIDS. The new clinic addressed an existing need in the local market, treating children by age groups, from the appearance of the first teeth to the age when temporary teeth are replaced by permanent ones.
Since its opening, DENT ESTET and DENT ESTET 4 KIDS have aimed to become promoters of dental education in Romania. Dr. Oana Taban and her medical team have taken on the role of educating children and especially parents about the importance of oral hygiene, regular dental visits, and adhering to long-term treatment plans to achieve desired results.
Programs such as "Visiting the Tooth Fairy," "Growing Healthy Smiles," and partnerships with organizations like "Save the Children Romania," "Ajungem Mari," and Magic Association are just a few of DENT ESTET's initiatives addressing communities, focusing on medical education and oral health.
Furthermore, Dr. Oana Taban and DENT ESTET clinics have periodically invested in the education and development of young dental specialists. At the invitation of UMFST Târgu Mureș's rector, Prof. Dr. Leonard Azamfirei, and the Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine, Prof. Univ. Dr. Cristina Bica, DENT ESTET and the Faculty of Dental Medicine initiated a unique project in Romania's educational portfolio. The complete renovation and furnishing of a laboratory within the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Târgu Mureș had a major impact on the quality of the educational process, providing the best study conditions for future dentists. This project is close to Dr. Oana Taban's heart, as she took her first steps towards professional fulfillment at the Faculty of Dental Medicine in Târgu Mureș.
To further contribute to the dental education of Romanians, DENT ESTET has also invested in conducting national research to analyze the oral health status of Romanians and identify measures to improve education levels within the population.
Leader oriented towards the dentistry of the future
Constantly interested in innovation and improving premium services for DENT ESTET patients, Dr. Oana Taban opened, in 2017, a year after the strategic partnership with MedLife Medical System, the largest digitalized dental clinic in Romania. Thanks to investments in the latest digital technologies and the best medical team, the clinic on Primăverii Boulevard became a Planmeca Digital Academy Center and the only Straumann Center of Excellence in Romania.
Innovation has been at the core of every development process within DENT ESTET. Since 1999, the group created by Dr. Oana Taban has introduced major firsts in the local dental market: Oral Cancer Screening, invisible braces INCOGNITO, Invisalign and Clear Correct by Straumann, the All-on-4 dental implant system, and the revolutionary MODJAW scanner, to name a few.
Mentor for generations of doctors and managers
Dr. Oana Taban has always been keen to share her experience with others, whether her own medical team or dentists interested in becoming dental clinic managers.
The Dental Office Managers Association (ADOM), created by Dr. Oana Taban in 2013, is one of the initiatives that have changed the dental medicine market in Romania. Inspired by an American concept and customized for the Romanian market, ADOM today represents a community of over 1800 members working in hundreds of dental offices and clinics across the country. ADOM programs are a benchmark for dentist owners and teams in dental clinics who want to improve their medical and management skills and knowledge.
