The main pillars of the CSR projects developed by DENT ESTET

  • An investment of over €80,000 in a state-of-the-art laboratory for students, funding for medical equipment and funds for educational programmes;
  • Access to free dental services for thousands of children from vulnerable backgrounds;
  • In 2022, DENT ESTET aims to expand its network of social partners and become a role model for the dental market.

In 2021, DENT ESTET continued to be actively involved in projects and programmes aimed at communities, with a focus on medical education as well as the oral health of Romanians.

The investment of over €80,000 in a laboratory for students at the Faculty of Dentistry of UMFST Tg. Mureș and partnerships with humanitarian organisations such as Save the Children Romania, the Magic Association and Ajungem Mari are among the key CSR projects of 2021.

The DENT ESTET Laboratory at the Faculty of Dentistry in Tg. Mureș – a unique project within Romania’s educational landscape

A unique project in the field of education was realised by DENT ESTET in 2021 through the complete renovation and refurbishment of a laboratory at the Faculty of Dentistry in Târgu Mureș. Redesigned with a focus on design, technology and innovation, the DENT ESTET Laboratory – Department of Dental Materials has become a centre of excellence in dentistry for dozens of students and a benchmark for future generations of dentists.

“The DENT ESTET Laboratory project was a special one for us, but also for our partners within the UMFST management. We wanted the space created by the young architect Ada Tache, with the direct involvement of the American artist Karim Rashid, to become a symbol of innovation and digitalisation in dentistry, as well as a model to follow for all those who truly wish to support the training and education of young specialists in any field,” said Dr. Oana Taban, CEO & Founder of DENT ESTET.

Educational programmes for training future dental professionals

DENT ESTET is also involved in training future specialists through its partnership with Stomestet, one of the most renowned educational centres in dentistry, thanks to the courses organised by Assoc. Prof. Dr Smaranda Buduru, a senior consultant in general dentistry and dental prosthetics, Doctor of Medical Sciences and Head of the Department of Dental Prosthetics at the Faculty of Dentistry of the “Iuliu Hațieganu” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Cluj-Napoca. Associate Professor Dr Smaranda Buduru coordinates residency programmes at this university and delivers numerous specialist courses for future dentists seeking to enhance their knowledge in dental prosthetics and occlusion.

Investments in education are supported by the Dental Office Managers Association (ADOM) – a management school founded by DENT ESTET eight years ago which, year after year, supplies the Romanian labour market with hundreds of future managers capable of running a dental clinic.

“Continuous education and professional development, the establishment of the first school for managers dedicated to dental clinics, and the promotion of a culture of sharing and mentoring are the foundations upon which we have built the most high-performing medical teams and through which we ensure a continuous contribution to the development of the entire dental sector in Romania. In 2022, the group will continue to focus on the same key pillars of community investment: dental education and a commitment to oral health,” said Dr Oana Taban.

Around 2,000 beneficiaries of the partnership with Save the Children Romania

A strong partnership spanning over 15 years between DENT ESTET and Save the Children has, by 2022, provided access to premium dental care for around 2,000 children from vulnerable communities.

“For children from vulnerable groups and their families, access to a dentist has become a luxury they cannot afford, even though the need is very great and, at times, long-term interventions are required to resolve the issues. We would like to thank Dr Oana Taban and the extraordinary team at DENT ESTET who provided dental consultations, treatments and preventive care for these children as part of the educational programmes developed by Save the Children in Bucharest and Timiș. “When they come to the DENT ESTET 4 Kids clinics, they receive the best care and achieve excellent results following the dental procedures carried out,” said Gabriela Alexandrescu, Executive President of Save the Children Romania.

Participation in the Christmas Tree Festival, organised annually by Save the Children Romania, was another project that DENT ESTET joined last year. With the help of the “CRESC” Christmas tree, which marked a renewal of the collaboration between architect Ada Tache and renowned industrial designer Karim Rashid, following the DENT ESTET Laboratory project in Tg. Mureș, the group of dental clinics was able to contribute to fundraising for the creation of educational programmes that guarantee equal access to education for children from vulnerable groups.

DENT ESTET joined the Magic community in 2021

Last year, DENT ESTET joined the MagicHELP project, launched by the Magic Association, to support children with cancer and their families. Through the MagicHELP app, DENT ESTET provided free services including preventive, endodontic, periodontal and orthodontic treatments. Furthermore, as part of the partnership, the DENT ESTET 4 KIDS dentists, specially trained to work with children who need more time to get used to the dentist, consistently provide comprehensive consultations and specialist dental treatments at clinics in Bucharest, Sibiu, Timișoara and Ploiești.

2021 also saw involvement in new causes. The “Dăm startul la viață” project brought together 24 members of the DENT ESTET team, who joined the cause supported by the Baby Care Sibiu Association, the Mâini Unite Sibiu Association, the E.M.M.A. (Eternal Miracle Maternal Comfort) and the Unii pentru Alții Association, with the aim of purchasing a NAVA neonatal ventilator for the SCJU Sibiu Maternity Ward.

In addition to projects supporting children, DENT ESTET continued to support the Sibiu International Theatre Festival and the actors of the “Radu Stanca” National Theatre in Sibiu, led by Constantin Chiriac. In 2021, numerous actors from the TNRS received free dental treatment at the DENT ESTET clinic in Sibiu.

For 2022, DENT ESTET aims to continue its ongoing projects and expand its network of social partners by offering support to as many charitable organisations and vulnerable communities as possible. Furthermore, the group will continue to step up its efforts to promote oral hygiene education, given that studies continue to show that a significant number of Romanians do not visit the dentist at least twice a year, as recommended, and that dental conditions such as tooth decay and periodontal disease remain widespread.
