Specialist Doctor – ORTHODONTICS AND DENTO-FACIAL ORTHOPAEDICS
Dr. Alexandra Moanță’s decision to pursue a career in medicine stemmed from a genuine desire to help people, but the turning point was her own experience as a patient. This showed her that the success of a treatment depends not only on technique, but also on the doctor’s patience and empathy in explaining each stage. This vision guides her entire practice today, as she believes that dentistry is, above all, about restoring people’s self-confidence through a healthy smile.
Specialising in orthodontics came naturally to her, as she was drawn to the complexity of the field and the opportunity to achieve visible, long-lasting results. A key professional influence in her career has been Dr. Davide Mirabella, whose methodical approach to complex cases sets a standard of precision that Dr. Moanță consistently applies within the DENT ESTET team. For her, success goes beyond rigorous technical execution; it means building a relationship of trust, so that every patient feels secure throughout their treatment.
Dr. Alexandra Moanță is passionate about digital orthodontics, a technology that makes treatment planning an extremely predictable process. The use of 3D scans and digital simulations allows the final result to be visualised right from the start, offering a superior level of control and comfort. She places particular emphasis on patient education, emphasising that orthodontics is not just about aesthetics, but about long-term oral health, and is an effective and discreet solution for all ages.
Beyond her profession, Dr Moanță values personal balance to remain motivated and engaged in every clinical case. At the end of the day, she recharges her batteries through travel, sport and time spent with family and friends. This balance gives her the drive she needs to return to her practice with enthusiasm and a constant desire for professional development.
Performance does not stem from a single moment, but from sound professional habits, consistently applied over time and gradually refined through learning and experience.
“We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” – Aristotle
I chose to specialise in orthodontics because I was drawn to the complexity of this field and the opportunity to achieve visible, long-lasting results. Ever since my training, I have been interested in how correcting the position of the teeth and the bite contributes to both oral health and the aesthetics of the smile. I was drawn to the idea of working with patients over the long term and observing the transformations step by step, whilst building close relationships. It wasn’t a single, decisive moment, but rather an accumulation of experiences, cases and mentors that guided me in this direction.
I admire Dr Davide Mirabella for his outstanding expertise in orthodontics and for his methodical approach to treating each case. The way he handles complex situations, achieving precise, functional and aesthetic results, makes him a true professional role model.
The main challenges in dentistry relate to the complexity of each case, patients’ expectations and the need to keep pace with advances in technology and techniques. Communication is also essential; it can sometimes be difficult to explain the treatment plan clearly and build trust. I tackle these challenges through careful planning, continuous professional development and open communication with the patient, so that they understand each stage and are involved in the process. For me, success means not only a functionally and aesthetically sound result, but also a satisfied, well-informed and confident patient who feels at ease throughout their treatment.
I would like people to understand that orthodontics is not just about aesthetics, but above all about the long-term health and functionality of the teeth. Proper alignment of the teeth helps ensure more effective oral hygiene, reduces the risk of tooth decay and periodontal problems, and contributes to a balanced bite. At the same time, each treatment is personalised and tailored to the patient’s needs, and the results depend largely on their cooperation and commitment throughout the process. It is a process that requires patience and consistency, but one that brings significant benefits over time. Orthodontics essentially means functional balance and an improved quality of life.
What first drew me to DENT ESTET was the way I perceived their working culture – a balance between professionalism, discipline and respect for both the patient and the team. It gave me the feeling of a place where the quality of work really matters and where you don’t just stay in one place, but are encouraged to develop. It’s very important to me to be in an environment where I learn something new every day and where the people around you motivate you to keep developing. Here, I’ve found exactly that energy: organisation, high standards and a genuine openness to progress. One aspect that is very important to me is working in a multidisciplinary team, where each specialist contributes their expertise to a comprehensive and well-thought-out treatment plan. I believe that this kind of collaboration leads to better decisions and more predictable outcomes for the patient. I believe I fit in well through my commitment, attention to detail and the way I try to understand each case in depth. I enjoy collaborating with the team, communicating openly and learning from others’ experiences, and this environment provides me with the right setting for continuous development.
I am a dedicated person with an eye for detail, and in my professional work I try to get as involved as possible in every case and to offer patients the best possible experience. At the end of the day, when I put my equipment away, I like to switch off and take some time for myself, doing things that relax me and help me recharge my batteries. In my spare time, I enjoy travelling, which gives me a break from the daily grind and the chance to discover new things, sporting activities, which help me maintain my balance and channel my energy in a positive way, and moments spent with family and friends, who play an essential role in my life. I believe that this balance between my professional and personal life helps me to stay motivated, engaged and connected to what I do.
I would tell them to be patient and to view orthodontics as a long-term journey, not as a quick fix. It is a specialism that is developed over time, through plenty of practice, observation and continuous learning. It is also important for them to be curious and open to learning from every case and every mentor. The details make all the difference, and in orthodontics, progress comes from consistency and the desire to constantly improve. And perhaps the most important piece of advice would be not to lose their enthusiasm, because, although it is a demanding speciality, the satisfaction of seeing results and the impact on patients make all the effort worthwhile.
