Dr. Bianca Berechet

Specialist Doctor – ORTHODONTICS AND DENTO-FACIAL ORTHOPAEDICS

About

Dr. Bianca Berechet is a specialist in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopaedics. She graduated from the Faculty of Dental Medicine at the ‘Carol Davila’ University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, where she also completed her residency programme in the same speciality.

Her practice focuses on diagnosing and correcting dental and dentofacial imbalances, paying close attention to both the function and aesthetics of the smile. For each case, Dr. Bianca Berechet emphasises careful assessment, step-by-step planning and explaining treatment options in language that is accessible to the patient.

Her professional training includes programmes dedicated to orthodontic diagnosis, biomechanics, early orthodontic treatment and aligner therapy. She is certified in the use of the FAS aligner system and has completed courses on treatment with Myobrace appliances.

When planning treatments, she utilises digital tools such as 3D intraoral scanning, digital X-rays and orthodontic analysis software. These enable her to assess dental structures and monitor the stages set out in the treatment plan.

Dr. Bianca Berechet also treats complex cases, such as severe malocclusions and situations requiring collaboration between several specialities. In such cases, the orthodontic plan is coordinated with the interventions of the other doctors involved, based on shared diagnosis and objectives.

In the case of children, she considers an orthodontic assessment around the age of 6–7 to be important. A consultation at this stage does not automatically mean the start of treatment, but allows for the monitoring of dento-maxillary development and the determination of the right time for intervention, should it be necessary.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Bianca Berechet spends her time reading, listening to music and going for walks. Motorcycle rides with her husband are also among her favourite activities.

Philosophy

“For me, orthodontics is a wonderful blend of science and care. I love seeing how, step by step, a smile takes shape and a patient’s confidence grows along with it. I always try to explain things in a way that everyone can understand, to listen patiently and to find the right solution together. I sincerely believe that successful treatment begins when the patient feels they have a person by their side, not just a doctor.”

Motto

A conversation with Dr Bianca Berechet

What made you decide to pursue a career in dentistry and choose orthodontics?

I have always wanted a career that would allow me to help people and bring about positive change in their lives. Dentistry has given me this opportunity, and orthodontics has particularly appealed to me because of the way it combines science with aesthetics and patience. It is a specialism that demands a great deal of attention, but the reward is immense: the joy of seeing how, step by step, a smile is transformed, and with it the patient’s self-confidence begins to take shape.

How do you help patients understand the real benefits of orthodontic treatment, beyond the aesthetic aspect?

I usually start with a frank discussion about their expectations and try to show them that orthodontic treatment means much more than just a beautiful smile. Beyond the aesthetic aspect, a correct bite helps with efficient chewing, makes oral hygiene easier and prevents long-term dental or joint problems. I always try to illustrate the benefits using simple examples and images, so that they can clearly understand how not only their appearance but also their oral health will improve. I want every patient to understand that orthodontic treatment isn’t just about straightening teeth, but about regaining comfort, balance and confidence in their own smile.

How do aligner treatments transform the patient’s orthodontic experience compared with fixed braces?

Aligner treatments have significantly transformed the orthodontic experience, making it more comfortable and easier to fit into everyday life. Patients particularly appreciate the fact that aligners are almost invisible and can be removed whilst eating or brushing their teeth, which gives them freedom and discretion. Furthermore, discomfort is minimised and check-ups are less frequent, which suits the modern lifestyle very well.

Which aspect of your job gives you the greatest satisfaction?

My greatest satisfaction comes when I see the joy in my patients’ eyes as they discover their final smile. It is a deeply moving moment, because I know just how much patience, trust and cooperation there has been on both sides throughout the treatment. Every smile motivates me day after day and confirms that I have chosen the right profession.

How do new technologies help to achieve a harmonious smile, and which tools are so essential that you couldn’t imagine orthodontic treatment without them?

Modern technology has completely transformed the way we work in orthodontics. Today, thanks to digital tools, I can offer patients much more precise, personalised and predictable treatments. The intraoral scanner, for example, has become indispensable; it provides a detailed image, and for the patient it means greater comfort and an end to traditional dental impressions. With the help of digital software, I can plan every stage of treatment and show patients how their smile will develop step by step. And aligner systems allow for discreet correction without any discomfort. Honestly, I couldn’t imagine my practice without these technologies any longer; they make everything more precise, simpler and more enjoyable, both for me and for my patients.

Can you tell us about one of the ‘smile makeovers’ that has stuck in your memory? What made it stand out?

One of the cases that has stayed most clearly in my mind is that of a young woman who, although she had a beautiful smile, used to hide it because of some minor misalignment of her teeth. Together, we chose a discreet and comfortable aligner treatment. I remember the moment when, at the end, she looked in the mirror and smiled broadly and naturally, without any hesitation. It was one of those moments that remind you exactly why you love this profession.

Which doctor from the DENT ESTET team has been your mentor and a source of inspiration in your professional development?

I have been fortunate enough to learn from several doctors in the DENT ESTET team, but one of the people who has inspired me the most is Liana Andruseac. I was impressed by her passion for excellence, the patience with which she approaches every case, and the way she manages to combine medical precision with empathy towards the patient. She was a true professional role model, who motivated me to push my limits and to view every treatment as an opportunity to change the patient’s life for the better.

How do you work with your colleagues to successfully complete a complex treatment plan involving orthodontic treatment?

In the case of complex treatments, the approach is 100 per cent interdisciplinary. We always begin with a joint diagnosis and discuss the objectives and the correct sequence of steps together. I work very closely with my team – whether they are surgeons, periodontists, prosthodontists or endodontists – through internal case planning meetings, digital analysis of diagnostic scans, discussions on the timing of each procedure, as well as regular updates throughout the course of treatment. For me, constant communication and clarity regarding everyone’s role are essential. In a complex case, each specialist contributes a piece of the puzzle.

What activities or hobbies help you to unwind and relax outside of work?

Outside the practice, I like to spend my time on activities that help me reconnect with myself and my inner balance. Hiking in the mountains is perhaps my favourite way to relax; the fresh air, the peace and quiet, and the views give me energy and help me return to work with a clear mind and a fresh perspective. I also enjoy reading – whether it’s literature, self-help books or medical articles – as reading inspires me and helps me stay curious and in touch with new ideas. Music also plays an important role in my life; it’s how I quickly unwind after a busy day. And when the weather’s nice, I love going for a motorbike ride with my husband.
