She is currently a member of AALZ (the postgraduate educational department of the laser dentistry department at RWTH), a speaker and trainer in the use of lasers in dental medicine, and the ISLD ambassador for Romania. She remains actively involved in clinical research projects and scientific activities and is a member of the Advisory Board of the journal "Lasers in Dental Science."
She is the coordinator of the DENT ESTET - KronDent team of doctors.
For Dr. Codruța Ciurescu, the greatest professional satisfactions come from solving difficult cases. In dental medicine, solid training, multidisciplinarity, and creativity have given her the ability to solve very difficult clinical situations and bring a smile to many patients' faces.
She loves working in a team and sees dental surgery as a continuous and enjoyable challenge.
Being a field in continuous development, she dedicates her free time to individual study, congresses, conferences, and courses to offer her patients the best treatments.
She spends her personal time with her children and enjoys outdoor sports, especially water sports.
"I consider myself a forward-thinking person who likes to stay constantly informed. I am always up-to-date with the latest developments and continuously follow the specialized literature. This habit has kept me connected to the trends in orodental surgery, periodontology, and laser dentistry.
I enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team of dedicated and passionate doctors who are committed to the evolution of dentistry. I believe that the best treatments can only be achieved when we have a comprehensive view of a case, considering perspectives from multiple specialties."
From the very first year of university, I understood that merely memorizing and reproducing the lectures was not enough to become a good doctor. Behind the performances lies a lot of individual study.
Throughout my university years—a wonderful period, student life in Cluj-Napoca, especially in medicine or dentistry at that time, was a miraculous combination of study, friendship, fun, development, solidarity, and again, study. I completed my professional training under mentorship. It was an extremely formative period during which I gained a lot of practical knowledge, especially in oral surgery.
Later, I decided to further my studies in implantology and periodontology in Germany and Austria to offer my patients the best treatments.
I got acquainted with lasers later on. I had already read quite a bit about them and knew that my future would be in this field.
Today, my greatest professional satisfactions come from laser treatments: laser treatment of periodontal diseases is an extraordinary advancement for the patient. The treatment is much more delicate, less traumatic, and the results are much better. I also use it in oral surgery with extremely good results for both bone and soft tissues. And not just that. They are extremely versatile devices that can be useful for a large number of treatments.
In 2017, after completing my scientific master's degree at RWTH University in Aachen, Germany, I was invited to teach courses and give lectures on this topic.
I believe lasers are part of the "therapies of the future" and that it will be a field that will develop significantly.
Today's patients want treatments that are as minimally invasive, painless, and offer rapid recovery, without significantly disrupting their fast-paced lives, while also using materials that are as biological as possible, exposing them as little as possible to synthetic chemical molecules.
I believe the future of dentistry involves more and more technology, medical decisions that are not always easy, but also a lot of empathy for patients. Dental medicine has evolved and branched out so that complex treatments are now performed by multidisciplinary teams of doctors with different specialties.
What I can promise is that they will always receive the best and most appropriate treatment for their dental health.
Most of them say they appreciate the honesty, empathy, and confidence with which I perform a treatment. Confidence comes from training and experience. Honesty and empathy in the medical profession, I believe, define the human side. The "technical" component in the medical profession comes from constant learning, training, practice, and experience, while the "human" component in the medical profession comes from empathy and honesty. I believe both are needed in maximum doses to be a good doctor.
To trust the chosen doctor or medical team. They should not create personal treatment plans to be offered to the doctor for execution. Medical training and experience, if competed by the internet or personal will of someone who "knows what's best for them," cannot lead to better treatment.
Two wonderful children. And the fact that people I treated yesterday, 10 years ago, or 22 years ago smile when they see me on the street and I can see the appreciation in their eyes.
A good part of my free time is still dedicated to study, conferences, research activities, and university involvement. Besides that, family and friends are the ones who recharge my batteries. I also find my well-being through sports and travel.
