About

Dr Cristina Mudrenco is a graduate of the “George Emil Palade” University of Medicine, Pharmacy, Science and Technology in Târgu Mureș. Her professional journey in the field of dentistry has been marked by a constant commitment to excellence and innovation, with a particular focus on orthodontics.

She is a dedicated professional with a remarkable ability to integrate technological advances with the patient’s needs and to analyse the treatment plan in detail. Empathy and professionalism are defining features of her approach, and every decision is made with care and responsibility to ensure minimal discomfort.  Modern

equipment is her ally in revolutionising the planning and execution of dental treatments, and the intraoral scanner or Modjaw 4D technology helps her ensure precision, finesse and efficiency in every procedure. “My

philosophy of life boils down to the principle ‘Per aspera ad astra’.” I firmly believe that, through hard work, ambition, perseverance, tenacity and an eye for detail, any obstacle can be overcome, and dreams—even those that seem impossible—can become reality. This approach is not limited to orthodontics alone, but governs every aspect of daily life, being the key to success in any field.”

Dr Mudrenco regularly attends specialist courses to continuously improve his professional skills. He is an extremely active person, so when he isn’t creating smiles, he chooses to go hiking in the mountains, take part in cycle races and play tennis. Music is also a childhood passion of his, which is why he takes singing and piano lessons.

Philosophy

“Every smile has its own unique potential – I simply bring it to the fore. In orthodontics, beyond the technical aspects and treatment plans, there is always a personal connection with the person in front of me: with their real needs, their expectations, and the motivation behind their decision to improve their smile. I like to view each case as a personalised journey, in which I listen, explain and create a treatment plan that truly suits the patient. I believe in medicine based on education, transparency and genuine care, and my professional aspiration is to always offer modern, effective and as comfortable treatments as possible, in an environment where the patient feels safe and understood.”

Motto

Questions

1. Which doctor from the DENT ESTET team has been your mentor and a source of inspiration in your professional development?

Over the years, I have had the privilege of working alongside doctors with remarkable experience, but those who have had the greatest influence on my professional development are Dr Maria Taban-Hajnal, Dr Valeria Ștefănescu and Dr Liana Andruseac. They have inspired me through their modern approach, the natural way in which they interact with patients, and their constant attention to detail. These are principles that I have naturally incorporated into my daily practice and which continue to guide my work.

2. How do you manage to build a relationship of trust with your patients?

For me, trust begins right from the very first moments of our conversation. I try to create a space where the patient feels they can speak openly. People can tell straight away when they are understood and when genuine time is set aside for them. I explain each stage of the treatment in clear language, we discuss expectations and any concerns, and together we draw up a realistic plan. I firmly believe that transparency, empathy and consistency in communication are fundamental to building a solid and lasting relationship with every patient.

3. How do you explain to patients the benefits of orthodontic treatment beyond the aesthetic aspect?

I always try to show my patients that orthodontics is about much more than just a beautiful smile. Properly guided treatment improves function, creates a balanced bite, makes oral hygiene easier and reduces the risk of tooth decay or periodontal disease. Furthermore, it protects the temporomandibular joint and contributes to long-term oral health.

4. What is the most common misconception about orthodontics?

The most common misconception is that orthodontics is purely about aesthetics or that it is only for children. In reality, modern orthodontic treatments are suitable for people of all ages, and the functional benefits are just as important as the aesthetic ones.

5. How do you set the objectives for each orthodontic treatment?

I always start with a comprehensive assessment: digital scans, X-rays and photographs to gain a clear understanding of the clinical situation. This is followed by an open discussion with the patient, during which we clarify their wishes, priorities and level of comfort with the various options. I combine the clinical diagnosis with the patient’s expectations to create a personalised plan. For me, success is the alignment between the ideal medical outcome and what the patient wants.

6. In what situations do you recommend clear aligners, and when do you consider braces to be the best option?

I recommend aligners when the patient wants a discreet, comfortable treatment that is easy to keep clean, and the malocclusion is suitable for this type of tooth movement.

Braces are the optimal solution in complex cases requiring stricter three-dimensional control, significant rotations or difficult tooth movements. I often choose the system based on biomechanical objectives, not just aesthetic preferences.

7. What aspect of your profession motivates you the most?

Without a doubt, the transformations. The moment when the patient sees their final smile. It is that instant when I know that my work has made a real difference to their well-being, and that remains my greatest motivation.

8. Could you tell us about a smile makeover that really impressed you?

One of the cases that impressed me the most was that of a young patient who was very self-conscious about his smile. Throughout the treatment, I saw how, little by little, he began to gain confidence, and the end result went far beyond the aesthetic aspect. He changed emotionally: he was more open, more self-assured, and told me that, for the first time, he was smiling in photographs. For me, transformations like this are the most precious.

9. What technological innovations assist you in orthodontic treatment?

The intraoral scanner, digital planning, 3D analysis software, MODJAW4D technology and custom aligners enable me to provide much more precise, predictable and comfortable treatments. This technology speeds up processes and reduces errors, thereby enhancing the patient experience.

10. What hobbies help you reconnect with yourself outside of work?

Sport, travel and spending time in nature are my favourite ways to ‘reset’. They help me switch off completely and return to the practice feeling energised and with a clear head.
