Interview with dr. Silvia Zaharii

1. What inspired you to choose a career in dentistry?

I grew up in a family environment where medicine was always seen as a calling, not just a profession. Choosing dentistry came naturally, from a sincere yet conscious impulse – I felt it was the field where precision, empathy and the joy of working directly with people come together. It was an instinctive yet clear decision, which has proven over time to be the perfect fit for me.

2. Why dental prosthetics?

I chose dental prosthetics because I wanted to make a real difference to my patients’ well-being and self-confidence. A successful prosthetic restoration means restoring the functionality of the smile and rebuilding self-confidence – an aspect that contributes significantly to quality of life. This process often fosters a genuine relationship between dentist and patient, built on trust, empathy and visible results.

3. Who or what inspires you in your field of work?

I have great respect for many dentists around me, including my colleagues on the DENT ESTET team, who have since become my friends. I am inspired by the professionalism, passion and meticulousness with which they carry out their work, and the constant exchange of ideas with them helps me to keep developing.

4. How do you see the future of dental prosthetics? What innovations or trends do you think will be important?

The future of dental prosthetics is closely linked to digitalisation. Technology is advancing and providing us with increasingly precise, rapid and efficient tools that are transforming the way we plan and carry out treatments. However, I believe that the practical side, manual dexterity and the dentist’s aesthetic sense will remain essential. Technology helps us, but it cannot completely replace the attention and clinical intuition involved in the medical act.

5. Is there a technology that you couldn’t imagine dental treatment without? Why is it important to you?

Yes, digital technologies have become indispensable in my practice. From scanning and digital smile design to the actual fabrication of prosthetic work, everything has changed radically since I graduated from university. I adapted quickly to these changes and, at present, I would find it hard to imagine going back to traditional methods. Technology not only optimises the workflow but also contributes significantly to increasing the precision and quality of medical care, with real and immediate benefits for our patients.

6. What attracted you to the DENT ESTET team?

What first attracted me to DENT ESTET was the reputation of the dentists, the support given to professional development, the team spirit and the healthy competition. It’s an environment where I feel I can learn and develop continuously. And, honestly, at the end of each day, I often stay a few extra minutes at the clinic just to have a chat with my colleagues and friends. I really do feel that we’re like a family; it’s an atmosphere that brings you together and motivates you to stay close.

7. Has there ever been a moment when you felt you had changed someone’s life through a prosthetic procedure?

I had a dear patient who came to me with modest expectations but with deep trust. The work we carried out was both functional and aesthetically pleasing, and every time we meet again, we greet each other with warm smiles, hugs and heartfelt emotion. Moments like these remind you just how much your work can truly mean in someone’s life.

8. Do you have a personal motto or philosophy that guides your life and career?

I don’t have a set motto, but I believe in adaptability. For every stage of life, I create an ‘inner guide’ that helps me stay balanced and motivated. I like to be open to change and to keep learning – that’s what keeps me moving forward, both in my professional and personal life.

9. How do you relax in your spare time? What brings you joy?

Spending time with my family, friends and pets brings me genuine joy and is a constant source of energy. These moments are essential to my inner balance. What’s more, I’m always on the lookout for new hobbies, and once something catches my interest, I don’t hesitate to get involved straight away. I’m open to diverse experiences and challenges that bring me joy and inspire me.
