3Shape Implant Studio® digital guidance software

What is 3Shape Implant Studio®?

When DENT ESTET doctors plan dental implant treatments, the last thing they want is unpredictability and inconsistency.

The 3Shape Implant Studio® planning software offers them digital precision and predictability before surgery. The result? A more efficient dental implant workflow.

From single or multiple implants to fully edentulous cases, using 3Shape Implant Studio® doctors can plan any dental implant treatment and design any surgical guide. From implant planning, surgical guide design, and prosthesis design to the actual surgery, 3Shape Implant Studio® represents a better way to work and more comfort for patients.

Steps for creating the surgical guide using 3Shape Implant Studio®

  • Creating the surgical guide requires, first and foremost, a radiological examination called CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography). After the radiological examination, several aspects will be checked, such as the quality and quantity of the bone support and the necessary space for implant insertion.
Simulations are also performed to achieve the ideal positioning of the implants for correct prosthesis.
  • The virtual surgical guide is sent to the ASPEN dental laboratory to be printed using a 3D printer.

  • After this step, intraoral scanning follows. Using an intraoral scanner, we take a digital impression to obtain a digital model that we will manipulate using the 3Shape Implant Studio software along with the patient's CBCT. The two elements, CBCT and the digital model, will be superimposed, and the implants will be virtually inserted in the ideal position for correct prosthesis. We then begin constructing the virtual surgical guide.
  • After printing the surgical guide, the surgical phase follows.

Main advantages of the surgical guide:

1.

Significantly reduced postoperative trauma compared to classic implant insertion, as there is no need for a flap

2.

Reduced surgery time because the planning was done beforehand

3.

Superior precision

4.

Preview of the result before surgery allows us to visualize how the future dental crowns on the implants will look.
