Maintaining the results after teeth whitening
To help maintain the results of your treatment for as long as possible, your dentist recommends avoiding certain foods and drinks, or consuming them in moderation, to prevent tooth staining. These include tea, coffee, red wine, fizzy drinks, etc.
In addition, tobacco products will stain your teeth, even after the teeth whitening treatment has finished. As such, it is recommended that you stop using them.
Maintain a proper oral hygiene routine (brushing and flossing) to prevent stains from reappearing, and visit your dentist regularly for a professional teeth cleaning.
Toothpastes containing whitening agents may also be recommended by your dentist to maintain the results of the procedure.
The Zoom WhiteSpeed teeth whitening procedure
The entire procedure takes less than an hour, but a preventive dental check-up is recommended before the Zoom teeth-whitening session.
The procedure begins by covering the lips and gums, leaving the teeth exposed. The dentist or dental hygienist applies the Zoom hydrogen peroxide whitening gel, which works in conjunction with the Zoom light to penetrate the teeth and remove stains and discolouration. The gel remains in place for 15 minutes whilst the light is activated. During this time, you can relax, watch TV or listen to music.
The gel is applied for three 15-minute sessions of gentle activation, for a total treatment time of 45 minutes. Immediately afterwards, a fluoride paste gel is applied to the teeth to reduce sensitivity.
As with other whitening products, teeth whitening with the Zoom WhiteSpeed lamp is not recommended for children under 13 or for pregnant or breastfeeding women.
