Specialist Dentist – PERIODONTOLOGY
CERTIFICATION IN DENTAL LASER TREATMENTS
Dr. Anamaria Ghiurcă graduated from the "Carol Davila" University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Bucharest, in 2012, and later specialized in Periodontology. She knew that dentistry was the field she would work in, inspired by the dentist she visited as a child. She chose this field because she wants to help patients maintain their teeth healthy for as long as possible, believing that the best implant is the natural tooth root. "Do what you love and you will never have to work a day in your life" is the motto that guides her daily choices. Her passion for dentistry and her patients' smiles at the end of a treatment motivate her to put in all the effort to achieve the desired result. Patient respect is very important to her, and she believes that by respecting the patient, she respects herself. Individual study and attending congresses and conferences help her become a better doctor, to offer patients the most suitable treatment carried out to the highest standards. She loves the sun and the sea, which led her to discover her passion for snorkeling and scuba diving, activities she practices whenever she has the chance. She enjoys traveling, discovering new places and traditions, and never refuses to do a puzzle with her family.
I guide my dental practice by three essential principles: prevention, saving teeth, and building a trusting relationship with the patient. I firmly believe that the best treatment is prevention and consider it essential to educate patients about the importance of oral hygiene and regular dental visits. I am dedicated to saving my patients' teeth. Dental implants are an excellent solution, but preserving natural teeth should always be the first choice.
I consider it very important to have a relationship based on trust and open communication in the office. I want my patients to feel comfortable, supported, and well-informed at every stage of treatment so we can make the best decisions together for their oral health.
My day starts with reviewing my schedule and the cases I will be treating. Each patient has specific needs, so I prepare all the necessary materials and equipment to provide the best treatment. Throughout the day, I see patients for consultations, routine check-ups, or specific periodontal treatments. A significant part of the day involves communicating with patients, explaining their treatment options, and providing advice for at-home oral care.
I also discuss more complex cases with my colleagues at the multidisciplinary DENT ESTET team to develop a correct treatment plan and ensure a pleasant and effective experience for patients. My day ends with quality time spent with my family and my two children.
The greatest satisfaction comes from helping patients maintain healthy teeth through my work. I know how important this is for their quality of life, and success in treating periodontal disease protects their smiles and contributes to their overall health. Periodontal disease is closely linked to general health conditions, and treating it can have significant benefits for the entire body.
Generally, patients have clear expectations from periodontal treatments: they want effective solutions to improve their gum health, stop the progression of periodontal disease, and prevent tooth loss. They seek treatments that are as comfortable as possible and have minimal impact on their daily lives. Additionally, patients desire clear and transparent information about the available options and the results they can expect.
First and foremost, communication is key. Before starting any treatment, I take the time to explain the diagnosis and treatment options in detail. I use simple and clear language to ensure that patients understand all aspects and implications of the procedures. Furthermore, I encourage patients to ask questions and express any fears or concerns.
Secondly, I do everything possible to minimize discomfort during treatment by using modern technologies that reduce pain, shorten intervention times, and promote rapid healing.
Technology plays an essential role in my daily practice, contributing to improved precision, efficiency, and comfort in periodontal treatments.
For diagnosing and monitoring patients, I use the Florida digital periodontal probe, which allows me to objectively and accurately record the depth of periodontal pockets and gum recession. It provides the ability to store and compare data from visit to visit, making it ideal for long-term monitoring of patients' periodontal health. The Swiss EMS Guided Biofilm Therapy technology represents an innovation in dental hygiene, effectively and comfortably removing bacterial plaque in a precise and minimally invasive manner.
A groundbreaking advancement in periodontology is laser technology, which allows the treatment of complex cases without the need for traditional surgery, enabling procedures to be performed with minimal discomfort, faster healing, and better long-term results, while also having bactericidal and biostimulatory effects.
Having a mentor in my career is essential, especially in a complex field like periodontology. I greatly appreciate Prof. Anton Sculean and Prof. Giovanni Zucchelli, two internationally renowned specialists. I have studied their books and had the opportunity to attend their courses, which provided me with a broad perspective on periodontal practice. In the clinic, my mentor has been Dr. Alexandru Georgescu, with whom I have had the chance to discuss complex cases and receive valuable guidance, allowing me to make the best decisions for my patients and to grow professionally.
This role involves not only sharing the knowledge and experience I have accumulated but also providing support and guidance to younger colleagues. I want to pass on not only clinical techniques and procedures but also how to build trust-based relationships with patients. I want them to learn how to approach cases with attention to detail while remaining empathetic and attuned to patients' needs.
